PITTSBURGH – Sept. 21, 2015 – The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) announces it has contracted with Applied Measurement Professionals Inc. (AMP) for test development services beginning in 2016. In addition, AMP will provide ONCC with development and delivery solutions for the Individual Learning Needs Assessment, ONCC’s continuing competence measurement tool.
ONCC administers certification examinations to more than 5,000 registered nurses each year through computer-based tests. These examinations include the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®), Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON®), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP®), Advanced Oncology Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (AOCNS®), Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN®), and Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN™) Examinations.
In addition, ONCC offers the Individual Learning Needs Assessment to more than 2,500 certified nurses annually, as a diagnostic tool to identify their knowledge strengths and weaknesses in subjects on the certification test. The assessment, which is the first step in the certification maintenance and renewal process, helps nurses identify any knowledge gaps. This information enables nurses to focus their professional development and ensures renewal candidates have current knowledge based on the blueprint (test content outline).
According to ONCC President, Marybeth Singer, MS, ANP-BC, AOCN®, “ONCC and AMP have long worked together on role delineation studies for certification. We’re confident that expanding our relationship to include test development, as well as assessment development and delivery, will provide our certification candidates with the highest quality tests and assessments.”
AMP provides certification organizations, governmental agencies, professional associations and private industry with innovative measurement, assessment, and management solutions that focus on the appropriate application of technology and personal customer service. With more than 33 years of experience and 120 clients, AMP combines vast industry knowledge, effective technology and high quality customer service to provide unique program management solutions.
“AMP is thrilled to expand our working partnership with one of the truly great healthcare credentialing organizations. ONCC’s core values of integrity and innovation align perfectly with AMP. We look forward to working together to support excellence and best practice in oncology nursing.” Gary Smith, president and CEO.
