Ashley Huneke Chosen as 2025 Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse

Pittsburgh, PA, April 16, 2025 – The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC®) has named Ashley Huneke, BSN, OCN®, BMTCN®, as the 2025 Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse of the Year. Huneke is a Registered Nurse at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Huneke is being recognized for her achievements in blood and marrow transplant nursing practice, nursing service, and promotion of certification.
Huneke is a strong advocate for certification, guiding colleagues through the clinical ladder process and pursuing certification. She supports staff with study guides, learning techniques, and encouragement. As a skilled nurse and chair of the Professional Collaboration Nursing Council, Huneke has initiated monthly meetings to improve collaboration among healthcare providers, enhancing the transition between inpatient and outpatient care for BMT patients. As a preceptor she offers diverse learning opportunities for nurses and audits safety measures to prevent hospital-acquired conditions. Huneke is highly regarded for her exceptional BMT nursing care and patient education.

I cherish my time taking care of this patient population and look forward to continuing growing my knowledge and providing quality care to patients.”
Huneke was presented with her award during the ONCC Recognition Breakfast for Oncology Certified Nurses on April 11 in Denver, Colorado, during the ONS Congress.
