Marianne Kiernan Named 2025 Certified Breast Care Nurse of the Year

Pittsburgh, PA, April 16, 2025 – The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC®) has named Marianne Kiernan, BSN, RN, CN-BN, CBCN® as the 2025 Certified Breast Care Nurse of the Year. Kiernan is Assistant Manager of Patient Care, Fortunato Breast Center at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York.
Kiernan is being recognized for her achievements in breast care nursing practice, nursing service, and promotion of certification.
Kiernan created the Pink Angels Pre-Operative Program, offering personalized, emotional, educational, and holistic support to women before breast surgery. She also developed an exemplary Breast Cancer Navigation program and implemented a survivorship program based on her research. Kiernan introduced new technologies for lymphedema management, advocated for colleague certification, and is a dedicated presenter and scholar. She regularly volunteers in community outreach activities related to breast cancer.

Kiernan was presented with her award during the ONCC Recognition Breakfast for Oncology Certified Nurses on April 11 in Denver, Colorado, during the ONS Congress.
