Anne Kolenic Selected as Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse of the Year
The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) has named Anne Kolenic, DNP, APRN, AOCNS® as the 2024 Advanced Oncology Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (AOCNS®) of the Year. Kolenic is Network SCC Lead Educator, Ambulatory Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Kolenic is being recognized for her achievements in advanced oncology nursing practice, nursing service, and promotion of certification.
Kolenic has promoted certification by serving as an ONCC Advocate, participating in hospital governance committees that set certification goals, and lobbying for certification reimbursement and support. Aware of the issues facing novice nurses, she established a nurse residency program for new nurses. She is the in-house consultant for nursing practice related to safe handling, chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, and end of life care. She ensures consistent standards among inpatient units and 11 ambulatory infusion centers and precepts CNS, MSN, and DNP students. Kolenic regularly presents at the local, state, and national level, and is a faculty member at Case Western Reserve University.

Kolenic was presented with her award during the ONCC Recognition Breakfast for Oncology Certified Nurses on April 26 in Washington, DC, during the ONS Congress.
ONCC provides the premier, nationally accredited certifications for registered nurses in oncology and related specialties. Certification promotes health and safety by validating competence and ensuring lifelong learning in these fields. More than 40,000 nurses are certified by ONCC in adult oncology, pediatric hematology oncology, breast care, or blood and marrow transplant nursing.
