New Information Required to Apply for Certification
If you are applying for an ONCC certification test or renewal in 2025, you will soon need to provide additional information during the application process.
Beginning in late January 2025, you will need to provide the last four digits of your social security number. For privacy purposes, this information will not be stored in ONCC systems and will need to be entered each time you apply for certification.
In addition, you will need to provide your National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) ID during the application process. The NCSBN ID is a unique identifier assigned to every nurse upon their first licensure with a board of nursing.
You can obtain your NCSBN ID on the Nursys website at https://nursys.com. Once on the Nursys website, select the Quick Confirm option to search for your NCSBN ID by your license number (preferred) or name. Provide the information requested by the on-screen instructions, then verify the information returned is correct and make a note of the NCSBN ID that appears on screen. You will enter this ID number the first time you apply for an ONCC certification test or renewal starting in late January 2025. The ID number will be stored in your record for future reference.
ONCC will use the last four digits of your social security number and the NCSBN ID to verify your current licensure status.
Please obtain your NCSBN ID before applying for a certification test or renewal, and keep this information for reference during the application process.
